Full English Translation

The Republic of Kafr Al-Hanadwa /

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, has called on the Egyptian people to increase their production of sewage water, preserve every drop of it, and not waste it – in anticipation of the expected water scarcity crisis after the completion of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, and to save what may remain of the Nile water and allocate it for drinking and bathing. This is in order to direct the strategic national reserve of sewage water, after recycling and desalinating it, to golf courses, swimming pools, jacuzzis, artificial lakes, and dancing fountains in the New Administrative Capital, Alamein, and the rest of the new cities – in addition to the government's ambitious plans to use it in the artificial rain project in 2030, to which President El-Sisi attaches great importance.

Dr. Madbouly affirmed that sewage water is a renewable treasure that must be optimally exploited, and that the government will seek in the coming phase to develop modern irrigation methods by establishing a new parallel irrigation network from sewage water to supply agricultural land with part of it before desalinating it – in order to benefit from its natural organic components as a highly effective, cheap bio-fertiliser for enriching cultivated land, in order to double agricultural production and confront the global food crisis and the danger of the interruption of international supply and provisioning chains due to wars and the possibility of the closure of straits and maritime passages.

Madbouly pointed to the President's keenness and support for this project, and his precise daily follow-up of the preparations for it, and the start of its immediate implementation after the completion of the hydraulic and environmental studies related to it.

A correspondent of the Nadim News Agency has learned from high-level sources at the Ministry of Irrigation and the Sanitation Authority that the confirmed reserve of Egypt's wealth of sewage water exceeds 35 billion cubic metres annually, and that Egypt thus occupies first place in its production in the Middle East and fourth place globally after China, India, and Indonesia.

1. Genre and Satirical Framework

This text is a masterpiece of environmental-economic satire that mimics the language of government statements, development projects, and national statistics – but describes an environmental catastrophe as a national treasure.

9. What the International Reader Should Understand

1. The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam – is a dam Ethiopia is building, which could reduce Egypt's share of Nile water.

2. Sewage water – is human wastewater, usually treated and used in limited agriculture.

3. Golf courses and swimming pools – are symbols of elite leisure in resorts.

4. The New Administrative Capital – is a new city project east of Cairo.

5. Alamein – is a coastal city with massive leisure projects.

6. Artificial rain – is a technology for generating rain, costly and limited.

7. 35 billion cubic metres – is an exaggerated figure for annual sewage.

8. "Bio-fertiliser from sewage" – using human waste as fertiliser, a controversial practice.

---

10. The Intellectual Punchline of the Text

"Increase your production of sewage! Preserve every drop! We will direct it to golf courses, jacuzzis, and dancing fountains! We will irrigate crops with sewage and fertilise them with waste! Egypt is first in the Middle East in sewage production! And fourth globally! This is a national achievement!"

The satire: The state is proud of its wealth of sewage water! The people are required to urinate and defecate more – to save water for golf and jacuzzis! Human waste has become a national treasure!

The darkness beneath the laughter: The text depicts the end of human dignity – through a "national project," "national statistics," and "presidential interest." The horror is that every step appears "scientific," "developmental," and "official." The people will eat crops irrigated with sewage, and the rich will swim in jacuzzis of sewage – and this is all a national achievement!
